Before and after each episode of Back to the Future: The Animated Series, a short live-action clip of Dr. Emmett Brown (played by Christopher Lloyd) addressing the camera/audience was shown.
The opening clip usually led to Doc introducing the events of the episode, while the closing clip offered some kind of conclusion and featured a video encyclopedia in which Doc's lab assistant (Bill Nye) would perform a science experiment that the viewers could try for themselves at home.
