Super Mega Arcade World in 1992.

An arcade, amusement arcade, or video arcade is a venue to play arcade games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables.

Some stores have an arcade set up within, such as the 7-Eleven in Hill Valley, California, where Marty McFly would play Wild Gunman.

In 2015, Cafe 80's also had an arcade set up inside, with Wild Gunman and Pac-Man, although the latter was only for display due to its collector's value.

Other buildings are set up entirely as an arcade, such as Starbase Zero, which was located in downtown Hill Valley in 1986, or Super Mega Arcade World, which was located in a shopping plaza in Hill Valley in 1992.

The term arcade is also an used in architecture. In the architectural sense, and arcade is a series of adjoining arches, each counter-thrusting the next, supported by columns, piers, or a covered walkway enclosed by a line of such arches on one or both sides.

Doc Brown and Marty traveled to 36 A.D. to study the design of the Roman arcades. Jules and Verne misunderstand him and stow away in the DeLorean, hoping to visit the arcades to play video games.
