Clara reading Around the World in 80 Days

Clara reads Around the World in Eighty Days

Around the World in Eighty Days (in French: Le tour du monde en quatre-vingts jours) was an adventure novel written by Jules Verne in 1873.

In the novel, a rich British gentleman makes a wager that he can travel around the world in 80 Days. He and his French valet leave London on October 2, 1872 and arrive back eighty days later on December 21, 1872.

Daniel Clayton introduced his daughter Clara to a nice man from a good family. However, Clara was infatuated with the works of Jules Verne, and wouldn't stop reading Around the World in Eighty Days while they were on their dates. Because of this, the relationship didn't work out.
