In 1989, a video game, inspired by Back to the Future, was produced for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Footage of the game can be seen on a youtube.com feature narrated, unfavorably but accurately, by "The Angry Nintendo Nerd", who starts out by saying "This game is horrible!
In the first stage, the player runs through a neighborhood and "collects clocks" to extend time. As the Nerd notes sarcastically, "So you're walking through Hill Valley, and every single thing you can imagine is out to kill you... bullies, hula hoop girls, killer bees, and guys holding glass windows... just like in the movie!"
At some point in game play, "Marty" gets the ability to throw bowling balls ("Remember that from the movie?") At the second stage, the player is in a large version of "Lou's Cafe", standing behind the counter and throwing milk shakes at bullies before they reach the counter.
