The Boston Beaneaters was a baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts in 1897. Pee Wee McFly played for the team and was coerced by Diamond Jim Tannen to throw the game.

Behind the scenes

The Boston Beaneaters were indeed Boston's National League baseball team in 1897, and did win the league pennant after a late season set of games put them two games ahead of the Baltimore Orioles [1]. The Beaneaters were renamed the Boston Braves in 1912, and, after being relocated two times, are now the Atlanta Braves. Real-life team manager Frank Selee was also portrayed in the animated series.
"Pee Wee" was the well-known nickname for baseball Hall of Famer Harold "Pee Wee" Reese, who played for the Dodgers between 1940 and 1958.
