Goldie Wilson, in his busboy's uniform, gives George McFly some advice in 1955.

A busboy was a person working in the restaurant and catering business, whose job was to assist the waiting staff.

As a young man, Goldie Wilson worked for Lou Carruthers as a busboy at Lou's Cafe in Hill Valley, where he mentioned to George McFly on November 5, 1955, that he had to stand up for himself and not let people like Biff Tannen push him around, as well as saying he himself was taking classes at night school as he was determined to make something of himself — which eventually led him to become mayor in 1977.

Behind the scenes[]

  • Today, a busboy is referred to by the gender-neutral terms busser and server.
  • In the U.K., a busser is known as a commis waiter or waiter's assistant.
