Checkerboard Charlie was an enemy of Kid Tannen.
At some point prior to August 25, 1931, Kid had Charlie killed, and subsequently added a caricature of him to the wall of El Kid. The caption under the caricature read 'Checkerboard Charlie. Removed from the board.'
