The Nova was a vehicle manufactured by Chevrolet.
In the first timeline, George McFly drove a 1979 model in 1985 before he lent it to his work supervisor Biff Tannen, who totaled it while drinking and driving (at the same time!). Biff then blamed George by claiming the car had a blind spot, and forced him to pay up to have his suit dry-cleaned as he had spilt beer over himself in the crash.
Marty McFly had been planning to borrow the car to take Jennifer Parker to the lake, but thanks to Biff these plans were ruined.
