"Only if it turns out that reality is actually nothing more than a holographic illusion created by the interplay of subatomic particles on a vast two-dimensional membrane."

This article covers a subject that has been deemed non-canon by either the author or the Back to the Future licensees, and thus should not be taken as a part of the "real" Back to the Future universe.

Classifieds

The used DeLorean in the classifieds.

The classifieds was a section in the Hill Valley Telegraph where people could advertise goods they no longer wanted and wished to sell.

History

The August 11, 1984 issue of the newspaper featured ads placed by sellers named Robert, John and Robin, who were selling a DeLorean DMC-12, a non-working pinball machine and a Ferrari 308 GTS respectively.

Dr. Emmett Brown went on to purchase Robert's DeLorean, which he used to build his time machine the following year; and the pinball machine from John, using the parts from it to create a fake nuclear weapon for the Libyans. However, it remains unrecorded as to whether Robin ever found a buyer for his Ferrari.

Another seller advertising in the classifieds on August 11 was Professor B.O. Beanes, who was having an estate sale and was selling a large collection of vintage books.

Behind the scenes

  • There are a couple of other classified ads above that of Professor Beanes in the closing frame of "Science Project", but these are unreadable due to being almost completely obscured by a flyer for Kruge's Pest Control.
