Brief synopsis[]

While playing baseball, Verne meets a new friend. Chris, who sports a baseball cap, can play like nobody's business and becomes the "hit" of the game. He and Chris begin to pal around and end up in the comic book store. After being given an old poster (to cover their new comic) of a circus long since disbanded, Verne and Chris, with Marty in the back of the DeLorean, head back to April 7, 1933 to see the circus in its heyday (the poster had advertised the circus's run for the weekend from April 7 to 10, 1933). The circus is in serious financial trouble. The farmer whose land hosts the circus, Mac Tannen, is about to take over the circus because the owners are unable to pay the rent to him for the fairgrounds. When the star high-wire act quits, Verne and Chris come to the rescue by taking over the act. Verne finds out that his buddy, Chris, is a girl. Chris (short for Christine) ends up saving Verne from a trapeze fall. Verne gives up his prejudice against "females" and saves a wonderful friendship. They saved the Bob brothers circus from financial ruin, Meanwhile Marty takes Verne and Christina with him and returns to 1992.

Behind the scenes[]

  • In an homage to the Peaboy farm scene in the film, Verne and Chris lose control of a car and it crashes into a barn.
  • The farmer is "Old Mac Tannen" (and there is an E-I-E-I-O moment). Mac looks and sounds like Biff and is equally obnoxious. It's possible that he's the grandfather of Biff, who will be born later in the 1930s.
