"Only if it turns out that reality is actually nothing more than a holographic illusion created by the interplay of subatomic particles on a vast two-dimensional membrane."

This article covers a subject that has been deemed non-canon by either the author or the Back to the Future licensees, and thus should not be taken as a part of the "real" Back to the Future universe.

The Fox Passadena Theatre opened as Clune's Pasadena Theatre, in Pasadena, California, on March 10, 1911. It ceased operations in 1953.

In 1943, Mrs. Gomez rented an apartment to Emmett Brown, who was a professor at the California Institute of Technology. Doc convinced Robert Millikan, the president of Caltech, to arrange an interview with Major General Leslie Groves and Vannevar Bush. They were searching for scientists to join the top secret Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb. He had a disastrous interview, and walked past the Fox Pasadena Theatre to try to think about how he could get a second chance. To his surprise, he was given a position on the project.

Behind the scenes[]

  • The three businesses that Doc passed (Fox Pasadena Theatre, Schwab's Pharmacy, and Reliable Radio) were actual businesses in real life California in 1943.
  • The actual name of the theater was Fox Pasadena Theatre — 'theater' being spelled as in the U.K. ('theatre') and not as in the U.S. ('theater').
