This article covers a subject that has been deemed non-canon by either the author or the Back to the Future licensees, and thus should not be taken as a part of the "real" Back to the Future universe.

GriffTech was a company in Hill Valley in 2032, which was founded by Griff Tannen.

History[]

GriffTech was the developer of the popular social media network ThingMeme, which allowed inanimate objects to post selfies on the internet. It was created with financing secured from Douglas J. Needles on June 13, 2032.

ThingMeme originally inadvertently caused a nuclear holocaust in 2045 when Griff Tannen uploaded a virus that was meant to flash the word 'butthead' on every object on Earth. The virus caused a short circuit in the Mr. Fusion network, creating an explosion in all one hundred million of the tiny nuclear reactors in the units.

As that timeline was rewritten when Dr. Emmett Brown prevented the invention of the Mr. Fusion, it is unclear whether GriffTech and ThingMeme existed in the new timeline.
