Herbert George "H.G." Wells was an author of science-fiction in the 19th and 20th centuries.

One of his most notable works was The Time Machine, written in 1895, in which a man builds a time machine and travels to the far future of A.D. 902,701. His 1898 novel The War of the Worlds was adapted into movie form as H.G. Wells' The War of the Worlds in 1953.

Trivia

  • In the 1979 film Time After Time, the time traveler in the story is imagined as being H.G. Wells himself. Having traveled to the present time, he meets Amy Robbins, who was played by Mary Steenburgen.
