"Hey! I'm walkin' here!" was a line spoken by Dustin Hoffman as Ratzo Rizzo in the 1969 movie Midnight Cowboy.

History

In 2015, Marty McFly Jr. left the Cafe 80's and crossed the street, when he was almost hit by a Ford Probe. Marty Jr. shouted at the driver "Hey! I'm walkin' here! I'm walkin' here!"

Behind the scenes

  • The line "Hey! I'm walkin here!" was improvised by Dustin Hoffman. During shooting of Midnight Cowboy, Hoffman and his co-star Jon Voight were crossing a street when a taxicab drove into the shot. Hoffman almost shouted "Hey! We're shooting here!" but he decided to stay in character and instead shouted "Hey! I'm walkin' here! I'm walkin' here!".
  • "Hey! I'm walkin' here! I'm walkin' here!" was ranked #27 on the American Film Institute's AFI's 100 Years...100 Movie Quotes, a list of the top 100 most memorable quotes in American cinema history. The line has been referenced in numerous media since.
  • The line was also spoken in Forrest Gump (1994), another movie directed by Robert Zemeckis.
