JCPenney was a department store located in Twin Pines Mall. It could be seen from the parking lot where the world's first temporal displacement occurred.

In The Game in 1986, Dr. Emmett Brown hadn't been seen for months. Worried about his friend, Marty McFly had a dream of the temporal displacement experiment, but everything was distorted. In his dream, the store appeared under the name of "JPPinney".

Behind the scenes

• The JCPenney store depicted in the film, located at the Puente Hills Mall in City of Industry, California, closed in 1996, with 24 Hour Fitness and Burlington Coat Factory (Now Burlington) now operating in the building.
• The name JPPinney was an in-joke reference to Joe Pinney, a designer at Telltale Games.
