Gleason was best known as Ralph Kramden on the sitcom The Honeymooners (1955-56), and later as Sheriff Buford T. Justice in the Smokey and the Bandit series.
His last movie role before his death on June 24, 1987 at seventy-one was as Max Basner in the comedy-drama Nothing in Common (1986), starring Tom Hanks.
