James Horner (b. August 14, 1953 in Los Angeles, California; d. June 22, 2015 in Ventucopa, California) was an American Academy Award-winning music composer and conductor. He composed the Universal Studios 75th anniversary fanfare that accompanied the Universal logo at the start of Back to the Future Part III.
Horner was also an avid pilot, and it was while flying his Short Tucano aircraft in Ventucopa, California on June 22, 2015 that he was killed when the plane crashed into the Los Padres National Forest.
