John was a man living in Hill Valley in the timeline where Emmett Brown turned it into a police state.
On May 15, 1986, Marty McFly listened to recordings George McFly had made of residents expressing doubts about the apparently utopian city. One such recording was of John and an unknown woman, participating in one of the many activities that First Citizen Brown had made illegal. John appeared to be tired of the regime, as he had realized that practically everything was illegal in Hill Valley.
