Lyon1

A lion statue at the entrance of Lyon Estates in 1955.

A lion was a large, vicious cat that was native to countries such as Africa and India.

On August 25, 1931, Edna Strickland was raising money for a pair of ornate sculptures to be placed alongside the clock at Hill Valley Courthouse. Marty McFly suggested lions, as he knew that they would eventually be decided on anyway, having seen the lions in both 1985 and 1955.

In 1955, the Lyon Estates housing development used lions to decorate the two statues that flanked the entrance road.
