A manual transmission is the type of transmission in a car where the driver must push in the clutch, take their foot off the accelerator, and push or pull the gear shift into the desired gear to speed up or slow down as required.
Cars with a manual transmission in 1985 included (to name but a few) the DeLorean time machine, Marty McFly's Toyota Hilux, and George McFly's BMW 733i.
