- "Shoot it, Paw!!!"
- "Martha, his fourteen-year-old daughter, and eleven-year-old Sherman chose that moment [their father sitting down at the table for supper] to add their requests for the day. Actually, they had been bothering their father for nearly a month to buy a television set. Everyone else in the county had one but them, it seemed."
- —From Back to the Future by George Gipe (quote, page 69)
Martha had wanted their father to buy a television set so she could get A's for school assignments after a student in her class, Peggy Ann McVey, took notes from the television news about President Dwight D. Eisenhower's heart attack, and turned in a complete report for which she received an A. However, Otis told her they would get a television when they could afford it.
Martha was present when the family investigated after a spaceship (actually the DeLorean time machine), with a space zombie (in reality Marty McFly) aboard, crashed into their barn at Twin Pines Ranch on November 5, 1955.
Behind the scenes
- The character was billed as 'Peabody Daughter' in the closing credits of Back to the Future. She was given the first name of Martha only in the novelization.
