The teacher was teaching a history class on the first Monday of March, 1986 when a delivery man from Western Union arrived with a letter written in 1893 for one of his students, Marty McFly, with instructions that it be delivered to Marty on that day at "the highest attainable level of education prior to university".
The teacher told Marty to restrict his mail deliveries to his home address, but the letter deliverer mentioned that his supervisor at Western Union experienced a case like this when he was young.
