Behind-the-scenes information

Melora Hardin (born June 29, 1967 in Houston, Texas) was the second choice to play Jennifer Parker in Back to the Future, and was chosen when Claudia Wells became temporarily unavailable to shoot.

However, before any scenes were filmed with Hardin, Eric Stoltz was let go. Since she would have then stood taller than Michael J. Fox, Hardin was also let go — thus enabling Wells to have a second opportunity to grab the role.

Hardin is perhaps best known for the role of Jan Levinson, the boss/love interest of Steve Carrell's Michael Scott on the U.S. version of the comedy series The Office (2005-2013).
