Pasadena

Doc Brown walks back to his apartment in Pasadena.

Pasadena is a city in the Los Angeles Basin of California. The California Institute of Technology, also known as Caltech, is located there. In the 1940s, it was also the home of the Fox Pasadena Theatre, Schwab's Pharmacy, and Reliable Radio.

In 1943, Mrs. Gomez rented an apartment to Doc Brown, who was a professor at the California Institute of Technology. Doc convinced Robert Millikan, the president of Caltech, to arrange an interview with Major General Leslie Groves and Vannevar Bush. They were searching for scientists to join the top secret Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb. Despite a disastrous interview, he was awarded the position.
