The abandoned Delgado mine

The silver mine was where Dr. Emmett Brown and Marty McFly placed the DeLorean time machine onto Carson Spur and camped out until dawn. It was located a half mile from the main line.

Behind the mine, there was a clearing that accessed the main line. Clara Clayton used this path to ride a horse from where the passenger cars were stopped to where Locomotive 131 was with the DeLorean.

The Delgado Mine was also once a silver mine, but it had been played out before 1885 and there was no silver to be found anywhere in its shafts.
