History

The saxophone player participated in the Enchantment Under the Sea dance as part of the band and led off "Night Train".

He played along with Marty McFly during "Earth Angel" and "Johnny B. Goode" until Marty starting knocking over amplifiers. Unlike most of the band, the saxophone player appeared to greatly enjoy most of Marty's performance and was bouncing along to it even as the rest of the band showed confusion and concern. It was only when Marty began knocking over amplifiers that he displayed signs of shock and concern.

Behind the scenes

  • The saxophone player was portrayed by the late Tommy Thomas.
  • Doc Brown also owned a saxophone in 1955, and it could be seen hanging in his laboratory. It was not the same type of saxophone. The Starlighter musician's instrument was a tenor sax, while Doc's was an alto sax.
