Electric hair chair

Doc's Static-O-Matic electric hair chair is demonstrated on video at the Institute of Future Technology.

The Static-O-Matic electric hair chair was a hairdressing device invented by Dr. Emmett Brown.

History[]

The Static-O-Matic electric hair chair sent 200,000 volts of static electricity through a customer's hair, thus causing it to stand on end and making it easier for barbers to cut.

Doc also stated that the machine could not damage your hair. He once insisted that it was impossible because he had been using it for years.

In 1958, George McFly's newfound confidence was giving him a big ego, and he was ignoring his fiance Lorraine Baines. They set a wedding day for 1960, but Lorraine wasn't sure that their romance would last. She came to Doc's mansion, looking for Calvin Marty Klein, so Doc claimed that he had gone off to college.

So, instead, George and Lorraine sought the advice of Marty's 'uncle', Doc Brown. He had planned to use his newest invention, a tiny radio receiver to tell George what to say to Lorraine, like Cyrano de Bergerac. However, Doc's plan is foiled by the fact that Lorraine was outside, and she heard Doc talking to someone.

George went out to talk to Lorraine, and George became jealous. Doc's dog Copernicus tripped George while he was trying to protect Doc, and George fell into the Static-O-Matic electric hair chair. George and Lorraine had a look at George's statically spiked hair, causing them both to laugh, and for George to realize that he needs to not let his confidence get to his head, and to relax and be himself.

In 1982, Doc bought the entire stock of interocitor tubes from a music store, but threw all the tubes away as he only wanted the box they came in for his Static-O-Matic electric hair chair.

In 1991, the Static-O-Matic electric hair chair was included in a video, demonstrating several of Doc Brown's early inventions, that was broadcast at the Institute of Future Technology.
