" Biff glared at Marty as if the teenager had crawled out from under a rock. / "You're supposed to be in Switzerland," he snapped, "you little son of a bitch!! Did you get kicked out of another boarding school?" He waggled a pudgy index finger at Marty's mother. "Damn it, Lorraine! Do you know how much perfectly good dough I've blown on this no-good kid of yours? On all three of them?" / Mom took a couple of quick nervous puffs from her cigarette before she replied. / "What the hell do you care?" she retorted. "We can afford it! The least we can do is make a better life for our children!" "

Switzerland is a country in western Europe, south of Germany and west of France.

An article titled SWISS TERRORIST THREAT was billed in the Newsline column on the front page of the October 22, 2015 issue of USA Today as appearing on page 5, and "may be real say CIA officials".

In the 1985A universe, Marty McFly had been sent to boarding school there. When the time-traveling Marty appeared in Hill Valley, Biff Tannen assumed that 1985A Marty had been "kicked out of another boarding school", as he had been before.

By 1986A, Marty had graduated from the boarding school he was sent to in Switzerland. He made friends there who were also interested in rock music, and they formed a band that toured Venice, Austria, as well as various Swiss cantons.

Actuality (2015)[]

  • Switzerland is a neutral country and has never had such a problem, nor is it ever likely to have in the foreseeable future. The aforementioned reference to a "Swiss terrorist threat" was probably a joke by the writers. However, in actuality, Switzerland put greater focus on antiterrorism operations in 2001, after the 9-11 terrorist attacks and concern a similar attack could occur in Switzerland.
