A tablet computer was a flat touchscreen computer that was available in 2015.

History

Tablet computers were used to read digital versions of newspapers, such as the Hill Valley Telegraph, over the internet. Animated graphics could be displayed in the articles, and it was possible to zoom in on images.

Dr. Emmett Brown owned a clear tablet computer that was completely transparent when switched off.

Behind the scenes

• The tablet computer and the internet was part of the story to bring 2015 more in line with how it actually exists in the real world.

Actuality

• Although tablet computers do exist, a model that becomes completely transparent when switched off, like the one used by Doc in Doc Brown Saves the World, is not (as yet) available.
