The boys' gym (now Perry gymnasium) at the center of the Whittier High School campus (not "Union" - Whittier Union is the school district) burned in 1999, but was not seen in the film. [1] [2] The exterior scenes for the dance were filmed around the high school auditorium on Whittier Ave. at the east side of the campus.
