Terry was an auto mechanic in 1955. He owned the Western Auto Stores store in downtown Hill Valley and fixed Biff Tannen's car after he wrecked it chasing Marty on a makeshift skateboard.

Terry was also seen in 2015 raising money to preserve the clock tower as a historic landmark. He ran into Marty McFly who traveled there from 1985, and he discussed how he wished he had placed a bet on the Chicago Cubs at the beginning of the baseball season, knowing that they would win the World Series.
