The Backlot at Universal Studios was the primary filming site for Courthouse Square representing the time periods 1985, 1955, 2015 and 1985A. An area in Northern California represented Courthouse Square in 1885.
Large portions of the Backlot, including portions of Courthouse Square, were destroyed by fire on two occasions: on November 7, 1990 and June 1, 2008. The sets were completely rebuilt after the first fire, and reconstruction after the 2008 fire is currently still in progress.
