"Verne's New Friend" is the fifth episode of the second season of Back to the Future: The Animated Series, and the eighteenth episode overall. It first aired on October 24, 1992.
Brief synopsis
While playing baseball, Verne meets a new friend. Chris, who sports a baseball cap, can play like nobody's business and becomes the "hit" of the game. He and Chris begin to pal around and end up in the comic book store. Behind the scenes
- In an homage to the Peaboy farm scene in the film, Verne and Chris lose control of a car and it crashes into a barn.
- The farmer is "Old Mac Tannen" (and there is an E-I-E-I-O moment). Mac looks and sounds like Biff and is equally obnoxious. It's possible that he's the grandfather of Biff, who will be born later in the 1930s.
