Water test

The water test was an infamous test to determine if one was a witch or not. A suspected practitioner of witchcraft would be bound and thrown into a lake. If the person drowned, they were innocent. If they surfaced, they were deemed a witch for not drowning and were burned at the stake. Either way, one facing this test only had one outcome: death.

Marty McFly was sentenced to this test, but escaped underwater when he was rescued by the DeLorean time machine acting as an submersible.
