Wernher von Braun (March 23, 1912 - June 16, 1977) was a German rocket scientist who developed the V-1 and V-2 rockets for Nazi Germany during World War II. After being brought to the United States in 1946, he oversaw the American space exploration program for NASA.
There is no indication that he was related to the von Braun family that had come to the United States prior to World War I.
