Script[]

The German script was similar to the original, with Marty being identified as "Calvin Klein".

Marty says, "Wow! Absolute madness!" after getting blasted back into the shelf, because "rock 'n' roll" is American slang for the music genre rock which does not translate into German.

Doc's exclamation of "Great Scott!" was rendered as "Grosser Gott!" (literally "Great God!").

Mr. Strickland describes Marty as "eine Null" (a nothing).

As an equivalent to "butthead", Biff's insult is "Milchgesicht" (literally, "milk face").

The flux capacitor is translated as "Der Fluxkompensator". The exact speed necessary for time displacement-- 88 miles per hour -- is given the metric equivalent, 140 kilometers per hour.

At Lou's Cafe, Marty orders a "Cola Light" instead of a Tab, and is misunderstood.

As with other European translations, Doc does not refer to Jack Benny being the Secretary of the Treasury in Ronald Reagan's administration, suggesting instead that John Wayne would be in charge of defense.
